The Government of Nayib Bukele, through the National Navy, seized a shipment of cocaine valued at $32.5 million during an operation in the Estero de Jaltepeque.

The announcement was made through Bukele’s official account on the X social network, where it was reported that the intercepted vessel was transporting 1.3 tons of cocaine.
During the operation, the three crew members on board the boat were detained. This seizure marks a significant milestone in the history of El Salvador, being the furthest operation from its coasts, carried out at 880 nautical miles (1,630 kilometers).
The previous distance record for a drug seizure was 515 nautical miles (972 kilometers).
President Bukele highlighted the importance of this operation, pointing out that it represents a decisive blow against drug trafficking in the region.
The US ambassador to El Salvador, William Duncan, also praised the success of this operation, stating that every action against drug trafficking is a victory for regional security.

In addition, another boat was located waiting to receive the illicit merchandise, in which three Mexican adults were found involved in the logistics of the drug trafficking group.
