The President of the United States, Joe Biden, has implemented a series of measures to grant residence permits to thousands of undocumented migrants married to American citizens, as well as to facilitate work visas for graduates of local universities.

This decision has been strongly criticized by followers of Republican Donald Trump, Biden’s electoral rival.

These new provisions allow migrants married to US citizens and their children to obtain a green card without having to leave the country to apply for it.

The White House has reported that this measure will benefit those who have resided in the United States for at least 10 years and are married to a US citizen before June 17, 2024.

It is estimated that around 500 thousand migrants and 50 thousand stepchildren of US citizens will be able to benefit from this regulation.

According to statements by the United States ambassador to Mexico, Ken Salazar, 320 thousand people of Mexican origin are eligible for this benefit.
