Movimiento Ciudadano is consolidating itself as a rising political force. Jorge Máynez Celebrates the Result of Movimiento Ciudadano.
Jorge Máynez, presidential candidate for Movimiento Ciudadano (MC), finished the elections in third place, but celebrated his party’s historic achievement by reaching the highest percentage of votes in its history, competing for the first time without a coalition.
Recognition and Celebration
From his operations center in the capital, Máynez acknowledged his defeat against Claudia Sheinbaum, the official candidate, but highlighted the success of his party by reaching a preliminary double-digit percentage.
“Despite not having won the presidency, we managed to double the number of votes we had previously obtained,” Máynez said.

Achievements and Historical Comparisons
Movimiento Ciudadano, which emerged in 1999, has participated in several presidential elections, often in coalition with other parties.
In 2018, the party obtained only 1.78% of the votes in alliance with the National Action Party (PAN) and the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD) to support Ricardo Anaya.
In 2012, he supported Andrés Manuel López Obrador in coalition with the Labor Party (PT) and the PRD, reaching 4.25% of the votes.
This year, under the leadership of Máynez and without alliances, MC achieved close to 10% of the votes according to the quick count of the National Electoral Institute (INE), marking a record for the party.

A Different Campaign
Máynez highlighted that his campaign was “worthy” and different, focusing on visiting 50 universities and a strong presence on social networks.
The strategy included the viralization of the song “Presidente Máynez”, which resonated especially among young people.
“This campaign was not only about winning, but about demonstrating that there is a viable and fresh alternative in Mexican politics. We have made history and that is something we should celebrate,” Máynez concluded.
With this result, Movimiento Ciudadano consolidates itself as a rising political force, showing that it can compete significantly without the need to form coalitions.
This milestone represents an important change in Mexico’s political landscape and a step forward for MC in its search for greater relevance and representation on the national stage.
