Both parties are willing to fight for their version of victory. Jorge Álvarez Máynez Rejects Morena’s Triumph in Jalisco.

The representative of Movimiento Ciudadano, Jorge Álvarez Máynez, has expressed his rejection of the victory declared by Morena in Jalisco, describing it as unacceptable and calling on Claudia Sheinbaum to intervene in the situation.

On the night of Tuesday, June 4, Mario Delgadillo, national president of Morena, used his social networks to officially announce the victory of Claudia Delgadillo in the governorship of Jalisco.

“Our colleague Claudia Delgadillo won the governorship of Jalisco and we are not going to allow MC to steal it,” Delgadillo said in his statement.

In immediate response, Jorge Álvarez Máynez confronted Delgadillo’s statements, rejecting the statements of the Morena leader.

In addition, he made a direct call to Claudia Sheinbaum, the next president of Mexico, to intervene in the matter.

Citizen Movement, for its part, also issued a statement demanding that the electoral results in Jalisco be respected and political polarization be stopped for the good of the citizens.

Movimiento Ciudadano Reaction

Movimiento Ciudadano, through its official account on X, stressed the importance of respecting the will of the voters in Jalisco.

“Morena and its candidates must respect the results of the elections in Jalisco and leave the polarization for the good of the citizens, who confirmed their confidence in our Movement to continue governing the majority of the Jalisco population, as in metropolitan municipalities with the triumph of Verónica Delgadillo, Juan José Frangie, Gerardo Quirino and Paty Sánchez,” declared the party.

The party also pointed out that the results obtained at the polls must be respected and that any attempt to alter them represents a threat to democracy in the region.

The Citizen Movement’s position is clear: they will defend the votes and the mandate granted by the citizens of Jalisco.

Press Conference and Challenges to PREP

On June 4, Mario Delgadillo held a press conference from Guadalajara, accompanied by the gubernatorial candidate of the Let’s Keep Making History coalition, Claudia Delgadillo.

During the conference, it was highlighted that the results of the Preliminary Election Results Program (PREP) cannot be considered definitive due to several anomalies observed.

Delgadillo noted an “atypical slowness in PREP progress” and significant discrepancies between information captured at the federal level and information at the local level.

In some districts where the coalition of Morena, PT and PVEM obtained clear victories at the federal level, the capture of information from the local election has not yet been completed.

Given these inconsistencies, Delgadillo demanded that the local electoral institute deliver legible copies of the minutes corresponding to all the districts of the state.

In addition, he announced that they will attend the district counts scheduled for the next day, and warned that, if the irregularities are not resolved, they have the right to request a total recount of the votes.

Implications for the Political Future in Jalisco

The dispute for the governorship of Jalisco not only reflects an electoral contest, but also a battle for legitimacy and transparency in the democratic process.

Jorge Álvarez Máynez and Movimiento Ciudadano have made it clear that they will not accept results that they consider fraudulent and are prepared to defend the will of the electorate in all available legal instances.

On the other hand, Morena, backed by its national leader Mario Delgadillo, maintains that his candidate, Claudia Delgadillo, is the legitimate winner of the election and that they will not allow victory to be taken from them.

The situation has generated significant political tension in the state, which could have national repercussions.

Álvarez Máynez’s call to Claudia Sheinbaum to intervene could be an indication that the electoral dispute in Jalisco will not be resolved easily.

As the district counts are carried out and the records are analyzed, both parties are preparing for a legal and political battle that will define the future of Jalisco.
