Opposition representatives mention that they are not seeking to annul the results. Xóchitl Gálvez Challenges Election and Demands Sanctions for AMLO.
Former presidential candidate Xóchitl Gálvez Ruiz has officially contested the electoral process, seeking investigation and sanctions for those who violated the law, including the potential involvement of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and organized crime.
Gálvez emphasized that she does not aim to annul the elections but rather calls for an “exemplary punishment and public reprimand” for the president.
On social media, she stated, “Never again should an election involve the intervention of the President of the Republic and organized crime.
I have formally filed a challenge to the electoral process to investigate and sanction those who broke the law.”

Process of Contestation
According to the submitted document, this is a lawsuit for the protection of citizens’ political-electoral rights (JDC).
Gálvez’s goal is for constitutional violations during the presidential election to be considered in the validation of its results.
Representatives from PAN and PRD clarified that this complaint does not seek to overturn the results but to sanction the president’s interference.

Gender-based Political Violence
In another matter, the TEPJF’s Specialized Chamber determined that President López Obrador committed gender-based political violence against Xóchitl Gálvez.
The majority of votes concluded that AMLO, by discrediting Gálvez’s candidacy in several morning briefings in July and August 2023, engaged in political violence.
Although the president cannot be sanctioned for electoral offenses, the Specialized Chamber held him accountable for his remarks, following the criteria set by the TEPJF’s Superior Chamber.
