Presidential candidate from the opposition coalition, Xóchitl Gálvez, has announced her decision to demand a vote recount in 80% of the polling stations set up during the recent presidential elections.
This decision was made following the detection of alleged irregularities between the result slips and the Preliminary Electoral Results Program (PREP).

Gálvez expressed her concerns about the discrepancies found between the preliminary results and the voting records.
At a press conference, she outlined that these irregularities might have compromised the transparency and legitimacy of the electoral process.
“We are standing firm because we cannot allow these irregularities to go uninvestigated. We demand a recount in 80% of the polling stations to ensure that every vote is counted correctly,” Gálvez stated.
Marko Cortés, the leader of the National Action Party (PAN), supported Gálvez’s request, stating that the party has identified 17,065 polling stations with no votes for PAN and 1,888 “shoebox stations”, where all votes were assigned to a single party.
These “shoebox stations” are located in areas allegedly under the control of organized crime, adding further suspicion about the validity of the results.

To reinforce her request, Gálvez and her team announced they would distribute 160,531 tally sheets, representing 94% of all installed polling stations.
With these tally sheets in hand, they plan to conduct a “social audit” of each sheet to verify the accuracy of the results.
“We want the public to participate in this review process. We need transparency and the active participation of all Mexicans to ensure that these elections reflect the true will of the people,” added the candidate.
Electoral advisor Martín Faz estimated that at least 102,388 polling stations, representing 60% of the 170,648 polling stations installed, would undergo a vote-by-vote recount.
This measure seeks to dispel any doubts about the electoral process and ensure the integrity of the results.
