The “La Clínica es Nuestra” program is advancing significantly in 23 states of Mexico, with a federal investment that amounts to 5,087 million pesos.

This initiative of the Government of Mexico, supervised and supported by the Health and Welfare Committees, aims to rehabilitate, equip and modernize medical units that solve up to 80% of health problems in communities.

The general director of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), Zoé Robledo Aburto, reported in a press conference with President Andrés Manuel López Obrador that this initiative has the support of more than 100,000 people organized into 11,816 committees.

These committees represent 99% of the medical units included in the IMSS Bienestar Health Plan.

Distribution of Funds and Benefits

The amount allocated to each health center was determined by the size of the facility.

Centers with one office will receive 400 thousand pesos annually, those with two offices will get 600 thousand pesos, while centers with three to six offices will receive 800 thousand pesos.

Units with more than six offices and centers with expanded services will receive up to one million 200 thousand pesos.

For three consecutive days, President López Obrador verified, through video calls with governors, the delivery of Banco del Bienestar cards in eight states: Baja California, Baja California Sur, Michoacán, San Luis Potosí, Sinaloa, Sonora, Tamaulipas and Zacatecas.

In this last phase of resource dispersion, 1,380 million pesos were allocated to 2,500 Health and Welfare Committees in the northern region of the country, benefiting even the most remote communities.

The governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, reported the creation of 117 committees in 26 health centers with one office, 37 with two offices, 41 with three to five offices and nine with more than six offices, in addition to four centers with expanded services.

In total, 79 million pesos will be invested in this region. Three IMSS Bienestar hospitals have been built in the entity: the General Hospital of the Eastern Zone in Tijuana, the IMSS Hospital in Ensenada and the first hospital in the new municipality of San Felipe.

In Baja California Sur, Governor Víctor Manuel Castro Cosío highlighted the investment of 34 million pesos to equip and rehabilitate 54 health centers.

In addition, he announced that the Santa Rosalía General Hospital in Mulegé will be inaugurated in July.

Advances in Other States

In Michoacán, Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla mentioned the formation of 686 committees in 113 municipalities with a budget of 376 million pesos.

This budget will be allocated to 414 health centers with one office, 55 with two offices, 116 with three to five offices, 94 with six or more offices and seven with expanded services.

He also highlighted the construction of hospitals in Uruapan, Maruata and Arantepacua.

In San Luis Potosí, Governor José Ricardo Gallardo Cardona indicated that the program will benefit 392 committees with a total of 238 million pesos, distributed in 262 health centers with one office, 27 with two offices, seven with three to five offices, 15 with six or more offices and 81 with expanded services.

Rubén Rocha Moya, governor of Sinaloa, reported the installation of 316 committees that will manage 161 million pesos for 215 health centers with one office, 49 with two offices, 31 with three to five offices, 20 with six or more offices and seven with expanded services.

The governor of Sonora, Alfonso Durazo Montaño, explained that 220 health centers will benefit with 109 million pesos.

In addition, he reported progress in the construction of the Navojoa and Vícam hospitals, which will be ready in September.

Health Federalization Plan

President López Obrador announced that a medical care network will be established made up of various institutions, such as the ISSSTE, IMSS, IMSS Bienestar, Pemex hospitals and those of the Secretariats of National Defense and the Navy.

This system will treat all patients for emergencies, heart disease, diabetes and cancer free of charge, regardless of their social security.
